Сегодня ходила по магазинам за предметами, которые покупаются нечасто, и удивлялась.

На одной и той же площади, скажем так, в разных углах её. Собачьи витамины (одной и той же фирмы, одного и того же названия, в одной и той же банке) - 463 и 555 рублей. Маркеры (также одной и той же фирмы) - 50 и 80 рублей, разница больше чем в полтора раза!.

Today, I went shopping for objects we do not buy often, and the results were astoundingly educational.

In shops located in the same square, but let us say at different ends of it, the dog's vitamins (same trademark, same name, same amount) cost 463 and 555 roubles (roughly $7.12 and $8.54). As for text markers, once again those of the same brand cost 50 and 80 roubles. The difference is more than 50%!

That sort of thing also happens here in NYC. I'm pretty sure that's the situation in most places... but yeah, it can be one hell of an eye-opener the first time you discover how much you can save/overspend if you don't take the time to compare prices...

Yes, with everyday purchases you often choose places where price/quality suits you and only visit the newly open ones from time to time, but with infrequent purchases this can be surprising.
