Some coincidences are quite scary.

Last Thursday at philosophy club, we were given very basic knowledge of the famous Indian saga Mahabharata and it's "gem" Bhagavad Gita. Two TV series based on the saga were also mentioned, the one directed by a Peter Brooke and the much longer (and more recent, I think), Bollywood series.

Then the very next day, on Friday, I get an email notification from the BAM Brooklyn theatre, that that same Peter Brooke is directing a play based on the saga, there, at the end of September and early October! If we only had a teleport, all of the group who speak any English would have gone there. Maybe all of us. Alas, alas.

Yeah, some of the Hindu holy books. I don't know much of their content but it's interesting how these type ofbooks shape culture and thinking.

It is also curious how different sometimes the point of view is.

I hope you are familiar with the main story line of Bhagavad Gita, where to armies fighting for two branches of the same family meet on a battlefield, and the allegory of that is the fight between you good and bad qualities. And well, the teacher to the good side's champion Arjuna tells him to literally kill his foes. And this is quite jarring, because you cannot kill your vices completely, only subjugate them.
